“Good Governance Institute” Foundation concluded a contract for the implementation of the project ,,Independent monitoring of the programme budgeting – a guarantee for the participation of the public in the process of decision-making”, financed under the NGO Programme in Bulgaria under the Financial Mechanism of the European Economic Area.

The project goal is increasing the role of NGOs in the programme budgeting process. Independent monitoring by NGOs and public interested groups on the transparency and efficiency of the process of formulating and budgeting of policies on a central level would be carried out under the project. The participation of NGOs in the process mentioned above would be encouraged and the awareness among the general public about the objectives and the expected results of the policies pursued would be raised.

The activities to be implemented under the project are the following:

• Elaboration of a Methodology for monitoring;
• Survey on the current participation of NGOs and interested parties in the programme budgeting process;
• Conducting a workshop;
• Monitoring on the process of formulating policies and their budgeting in two pilot ministries;
• Information seminar.

The project duration is 10 months.
